Ghanaian charged with murder of an African boxer in UK
APA – London (United Kingdom) A Ghanaian national, Charles Acquaah, was Monday night charged in the United Kingdom of murdering an African boxer, APA learns here.
John Abbey, 26, was on his way last Thursday to see his newborn at the hospital when he was stabbed in the heart in front of his three-year old daughter at a bus stop in South London. The 22-year old Ghanaian was subsequently placed under custody after handing himself over at a Croydon police station in South London. Police have confirmed that another two men, aged 36 and 39, were being questioned in connection with the boxer’s death. Police said they were also following up separate claims that the deceased Ghanaian father was stabbed by a « love rival », after two different women left notes at the murder scene. The murdered boxer was said to have a « tangled » love life with two women giving birth to two of his kids within three months. One of the women calling herself John’s « future wife » is said to be the mother of the crying girl who witnessed her father’s murder.
